Alpha House / Hide & Seek represented a big opportunity to bring what I do to the incredible story telling of generational talent Knucks, a fellow The Wire aficionado..

Following a classic memory-lane verse for Alpha House comes Hide & Seek, a perspective switching trip into the conflicted relationship between a young Black Londoner and a Police Officer, spanning the former's childhood to adulthood.

The narrative was brought to life through a mixture of digital anamorphic and super 16mm film, and offered an opportunity to trace the story of the lyrics visually in a social realist mode. It also felt right to reflect on the way young Black men are viewed, by the police and generally, and to push back on those violent constructions with a more poetic and tender lens.

The film was nominated for best video at the 2020 MOBO's, the GRMDAILY Rated Awards and was shortlisted for a Shiny Award.
